My Project
Hello and thank you for taking the time to explore and potentially help fund the purchase of a new SawStop table saw for our High School students. I will be entering my first year teaching Industrial Arts (IA), I have spent the previous 8 years teaching social studies, all within our school. Our current Delta table saw, after discussions with our retiring I.A. teacher, has started acting up.
With your help, I would like to upgrade our current table saw to a SawStop, which will help protect the students at the HS.
SawStop would be a great addition to the wood lab at our HS as it has a proven track record of protecting many hobbyists, professionals and students at other school districts. I think the time to upgrade is now for a variety of reasons:
1) Our "older" Delta is having trouble starting as the motor will sometimes seize up.
2) This will be my first year teaching Industrial Arts. I have worked towards getting endorsed in the area and having this "safety net" that is SawStop would add a level of comfort.
3) Over recent years, our school has placed an emphasis on "alternative paths" after high school other than obtaining a 4-year degree. Part of this has been placing students in a variety of different internship fields and dual credit classes. A new SawStop will only add to this emphasis by allowing student the opportunity to use this type of machinery safely.
4) We are having a renewed passion for Industrial Arts from our student body. After discussions with our guidance counselor, we have had a more students sign up to take woodworking and Intro to Technology than in my previous 8 years.
