Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine our students taking their coding skills to new heights – literally! This project aims to bring programmable drones into our IB Middle School Tech Design classroom, transforming abstract coding concepts into tangible, exciting experiences.

My primary goal is to ignite a passion for STEM in my students.

I want to empower them to become confident and creative coders, capable of applying their skills to solve real-world problems. By integrating drones into our curriculum, I aim to:

Increase student engagement: Making coding dynamic and interactive.

Develop practical coding skills: Bridging the gap between theory and application.

Foster collaboration and teamwork: Working together to achieve flight missions.

Promote innovation and creativity: Designing unique drone applications.

Prepare students for future STEM careers: Providing them with relevant, cutting-edge technology experience.

These drones will provide a powerful platform for hands-on learning. Instead of simply studying code on a screen, students will see their programs come to life as they navigate drones through obstacle courses, capture aerial footage, and even design autonomous flight patterns. This real-world application of coding will solidify their understanding of variables, loops, and conditional statements, making learning more engaging and memorable. They'll also develop critical problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills as they troubleshoot flight paths and refine their code.

My students are a diverse and incredibly curious group of learners. They are eager to explore new technologies and embrace challenges. As part of an IB Middle School, they are committed to inquiry-based learning and developing a global perspective. They are creative problem solvers, and they are excited by the opportunity to use technology to make a positive impact. They are the innovators of tomorrow, and with your support, we can provide them with the tools they need to soar!
