My Students

My third graders range in ability levels and are eager to be challenged to further their education. Each scholar learns at his or her own pace; my students are able to meet and exceed their goals through personalized learning and by having adequate access to technology.

I have 52 eager and energetic scholars who are developing a love of learning, and more specifically a love of reading!

Each day, these scholars show up to school craving an engaging learning environment wherein they have choice and ownership in their learning experience-by granting access to more technology in the classroom my students will have the opportunities to do just that!

Our school motto is S.O.A.R, which stands for Show Up, Own Up, Aim Up, and Rise Up. At our school, our scholars are showing up by coming to school prepared and eager to learn, owning up by taking responsibility for their actions, aiming up by setting high goals and always giving their best, and rising up by exceeding those goals and taking risks. With the foundation and power of a great education, our students will be successful- not just within the four walls of our school, but as citizens in our communities.

My Project

Our next NGSS science unit is focused on weather and climate, while my students are very knowledgeable about the weather that they have experienced here in Chicago, I am looking to help further their knowledge of weather and climate across different locations.

My third graders will build their science content knowledge through the use of technology driven research projects.

Each student, or groups of students, will select a location and keep a log of the weather of that location each day. In addition to logging the weather and building their scientific knowledge, the students will be able to incorporate reading and writing through creating a presentation to display their findings. Developing research skills at a young age is imperative in achieving success in later years.
