it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a founding staff member at a growing K-3 elementary school in Southeast Los Angeles, I am excited to enter my first official year of teaching after three years as a TA and Student Teacher! Our community is nurturing, collaborative, and full of diverse stories and experiences. Through daily read-alouds and vibrant literacy content, I want to highlight these diverse stories in the classroom and offer students a variety of lenses with which to view the world.
These supplies would not only contribute to our classroom's daily systems and structures, but extend our learning beyond school curriculum.
I've found that students grow in empathy and allyship through intentional learning about those both similar to and different from themselves. I hope to cultivate an environment of love and acceptance, and I'm excited at the prospect of offering students these new materials.
