This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are from a high poverty area. They long to have experiences they usually don't have. My students come from a variety of different homes and backgrounds. They love studying about different types of transportation and what makes thigs move. The students need to be able to understand the what force and motion makes vehicles move.
Learning about the airplanes will help the students understand what causes things to go fast or slow them down.
During this unit, all of the first-grade students will be studying transportation and force and motion. After decorating the planes using markers, we will do several experiments which include adjusting different parts of the airplane to see what makes it go faster, slow it down or make it fly further. The students will learn vocabulary (drag, lift, lag) on what makes objects move fast and what slows them down. It is going to be a fun-filled learning experience.
