Help me give my students to work on their individual reading level at their own pace using these Kindle tablets to access reading programs like Raz-Kids, Amplify and many more.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third-grade students are diverse, dynamic, eager and bright English language learners. They enjoy learning through hands-on activities and sharing new knowledge with each other. When they learn something new, they beam with pride and demonstrate it through their reading, writing, and speaking. Classroom lessons often depend on background knowledge for students to connect to new learning. This becomes a challenge to most of my English language learners. My students lack this background knowledge which makes it difficult for them to create pathways to new content, thinking processes, and rich vocabulary. This becomes even a greater challenge when our classrooms have limited resources for science, social studies, art, physical education, and field trips. Through funding from DonorsChoose.org, I am able to provide the needed background knowledge to students with lively, hands-on experiences and activities that will open their world to new learning and add to their diverse lives.
My Project
My students are English Language Learners and are eager to learn and master the English Language. They enjoy working with hands-on resources and using them to refine their speaking, reading, and writing skills. Your generous donations will provide my students with the opportunity to read and listen to stories on their own. This opportunity to read on their own using technology has increased my students' reading and confidence. The addition of four Kindle Fires will allow more students to use our school reading app programs independently at their desks. Our school have the opportunity to use award winning programs like Raz-Kids, Amplify and Khan Academy, name a few. These tablets will allow at least half the class to work on these programs while small group instruction rotations are going on in the classroom.
