My students need a listening center and a variety of music cds to further their musical knowledge. Students will listen on their own so they can form their own opinions.

My Students

Everyone has their own musical tastes. Part of my job is to help students develop their own musical style. A listen center and and a variety of music cds will help them do just that!

Many of my students come from very challenging backgrounds.

Their families have little or no money and cannot provide the things they need. If some of them cannot afford pencils and paper, where does that leave a place for music? Without the help of the school and music class, they will not learn how important music is in helping to create a well rounded individual

My Project

Although listening to music as a group can be very advantageous it can also be a hindrance. When the students are exposed to new musical genres or styles they sometimes get so excited they cannot hear the music. Or, they are worried about what the other students will think about their musical taste. A listening center will allow students to listen to music without worrying what the other students are thinking. They can be in their own musical world!

I want my students to form their own opinions about their personal style of music.

All too often children will wonder if it's, "cool" to like certain styles of music. I want them to be the judge. That is what the listening station will provide for my classroom. Students will be able to listen to different genres of music without worrying what others think. They will be able to concentrate on the music without being distracted.
