This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To become a good reader, students need to be exposed to different texts and genres of children's literature. In my classroom, students are provided with daily interactive read alouds. My students get to see and hear fluent reading as well as being able to interact with the text. Together we are able to discuss meaning of new vocabulary, while asking and answering questions about the book in a whole group setting.

Many of my students cannot afford or do not have books to read at home.

Often times, reading a book together in our classroom is the only exposure they get to hear a fluent reader. These daily interactive read alouds give my young learners exposure to see how fun reading can be and help them to create a love for books!
