So Many Kids, So Little Yarn

Help me give my students yarn and hooks to crochet with so they have the materials they need to be a part of our club.

My Project

Our crochet club recently held our general interest meeting for the year. We pulled down a few tables and waited for the interested to arrive. And WOW, did they arrive! When we tallied all that signed the interest form 70 kids signed up.

Asking students to bring their own supplies could prevent some of the kids who could really benefit from our club, from participating.

So we want to be able to give yarn and hooks to those who don’t have. Being a part of crochet club has given many of our students a chance to be creative and artistic in a school where the maths and sciences are the main focus. It has given them community in a school of 6,000 where it is very easy to feel lost. We want to be able to continue being a place for some kids to discover a new craft or even find new friendships.
