This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

If students are going to succeed in the 21st century, more technology needs to be used in the classroom.

The disparity between schools and school districts in unsettling. I work in New York, in a neighborhood full of inquisitive, excited students who want to learn, who want to do well, who want to succeed. I got a flip camera to use as a resource in the class. We are currently planning a math movie; an evil villain is attempting to take over with the help of multiplication problems. The only way to defeat him is by solving the math problems he gives you! The students came up with this; I had no influence. We have many more films planned already.

In order for students to be successful it takes more than inherit ability. They need an opportunity to succeed. Technology exposure is a critical! By having an LCD projector I will be able to not only use it to display movies that the children produce, but also videos and other media through the Internet. This gift will help make me be a more effective teacher and breathe additional life in my students' education. This LCD projector, when donated, will be shared with other teachers in the schools as well.

Without your help, without an LCD projector, the students are not playing on a level playing field with students in other parts of the city, state, and country. They deserve every opportunity to be successful and are entitled to all the advantages of technology in education.
