My Project
As I begin a new school year with new students, my goal remains the same to ensure a sound mind healthy, productive & safe environment for each of them. I requested a Cursive handwriting workbook that I will be able to use during the school year to build my students' penmanship and writing skills, as children in public schools here in NY do not have mandated cursive writing apart of the daily curricula. We teachers have to find the time to fit it in, as our students will one day have to put their signature on a dotted line. All wipes and disinfectant spray will be used on a daily basis, graciously! Cleaning of student desks and chairs are key to keeping a child's focus. Feelings of a fresh and clean environment assists a child in being confident and wanting to do their classwork.
Covid-19 changed all of our lives in March of 2020 and the materials I requested will be greatly appreciated and imperative to our health and well being each day.
Play dough is a great therapeutic tool. Creating with playdough lets children feel competent ("I’m good at rolling the dough”) and proud of their accomplishments ("Hey, I made a flower”). Pounding, flattening, and squeezing are healthy and safe outlets for extra energy. It can also help children cope with strong feelings. When my students seem stressed or angry, I get out the playdough and props! It absolutely makes everything better!! So, we thank you for your donations and words can never express our gratitude!!!
