My Project
As a teacher in a high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are curious, engaged learners. I strive to give them the experiences and skills they need to be successful engaged learners. Most importantly, I want them to love school! I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
As five and six year olds we are constantly moving around during the day and we spend a lot of time on the carpet.
We read stories, learn poems and songs and play learning games on the carpet.
Having a clean, comfortable place to sit and practice using these learning strategies is key to student success.
The donations to this project will help my students learn early literacy skills as well as math and science. It will also help in promoting and building appropriate and healthy social skills.
