This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Ready, Set, Learn"! That is how we start our mornings together in our classroom. Many of my students have struggled with school in their early formative years and have seen their peers moving on, while they are still in the same place. But attitude is everything and I want my students to understand that they can progress and learn.
I have the immense privilege of getting to work with an amazing group of special education students, who show me everyday what perseverance and dedication can achieve.
I strive to provide an engaging and innovative learning environment for my students. I want them to have access to the same learning materials and opportunities regardless of income level or ability level. I am very grateful for the Donor's Choose Community who have helped and supported my students in their learning journey.
My Project
We start every morning in the classroom with a morning meeting. This part of the classroom gets heavy use through out the day. Whether if it's for a class meeting for announcements or a quiet place to work or read--we love our communal area! We even use the configurations of the colors and squares to play math or reading games.
Because it's such a high traffic area, our classroom rug has been well worn and loved and it shows!
We need a new classroom rug for our meeting area. We currently are without one and it has been bit of adjustment, like instead of saying let's meet on the rug--students have corrected me in saying, you mean floor!
