My lower elementary students are so excited to come to the music room. Their eyes light up when they see the percussion instruments ready for them on the neatly organized shelves. We sing songs together, play games moving around the room, and learn new dances. But it's such a bummer that they don't have a welcoming spot to sit on!
A classroom rug will not only tie the room together, but it will give the students an attractive and cozy place to sit.
Because of Covid restrictions for the past few years, we were not allowed to have classroom rugs. In fact, until recently, we weren't even allowed to bring students out of the classrooms for specials! Now we can finally have students transitioning to the specials rooms, but we don't have quite enough to make it a welcoming space.
Right now we're using sit-upons, which are okay, but even though my students are extra-careful, they can get kicked around easily. Plus, it doesn't really make us feel like one class unit. When we have a rug, the students will have a welcoming place to sit and make music together. Please help us complete our classroom and get a colorful cozy rug!
