My Students

My students are part of a stage crew I have been working on developing over the last few years. They are interested in stage design, lighting, and sound but have had limited opportunities to develop these interests due to COVID-19. This year we are back and ready to put on a musical, Black History Program, and several band and choir concerts. I have acquired various lights, hand tools, and materials in the last few years and when I bring these materials in for the students to handle and create with, they absolutely light up. Students that would otherwise skip classes or tune out are asking questions, engaging in conversations with their peers, and begging to spend more time on the stage.

My students are grateful for opportunities to learn through hands-on and real-world experiences that the stage crew offers them.

Milwaukee has a lot of venues were my students can get stage hand jobs in the future.

My Project

We want our choir students to sing in a winter wonderland. My stage crew asked me if we could send snow down upon our little ones while they sing. I said "lets try" We are trying to build up a dilapidated stage. In the last 3 years I along with my stage crew class, have been slowly putting the stage back together. We recently got approved for an electrical upgrade this coming summer.(3 out of 25 outlets work) Won't you help us get the equipment needed, so we can use all those new outlets.
