Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of very sensitive 4-5-year-olds and this pandemic is throwing them for a loop. For some of my children, being in our building or seeing each other online, is the only time they get to see other children and socialize. Most of my students are coming into the building 5 days a week, with a few still learning remotely from home. These children, whether running into school or joining on the computer each morning are so excited to see each other and are so excited to learn new things.
Being the first Pre-K class of this new normal, there are so many unknowns; we never know if we will have to pivot back to remote learning at any time.
We are always hoping things will get better before the year is up. Even though we have been together since September, every day is a new start as rules and regulations have been constantly changing.
My Project
With technology being introduced during the pandemic, and many experiencing learning from home, it seems our children will never experience the excitement of the traditional snow day. With your help, I would like to put the fun and excitement back into a snow day!
Imagine the feeling of being a child logging in to learn as the snow is falling (oh no), only to realize they have fun supplies to use while learning from home!
What a difference in attitude they will have. Instead of the children being upset that they don't have the traditional snow day, they will be excited to open their bag of snow day supplies. With your help, we can change the traditional snow day of sleeping late into a new tradition. The new tradition will be where the children get to use their special pencils, paper, wipe-off boards, markers and crayons at home as they continue the consistency of learning.
Our children have been through so much these past 2 years; let's not take away the excitement we remember as a child on a snowy day. With your help, my children can still have that snow day excitement in a "new normal" way to which they seem to be adjusting.
