As a teacher who teaches in a low socio-economic school , my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. By providing students with meaningful tools such as "Chromebooks" will enlighten their day. A school environment which is foster as a home environment brings a rich and fulfilling outcome of goals set.
"A good teacher must be able to put himself in the place of those who find learning hard."
In today's society students are inventive and technically inclined with technology. I am, Ms. S, a 3rd Grade Teacher at North county K-8 Center. My class consists of 46 students who are in need of 5 additional laptops. The students are engaged daily with learning through various technology software programs such as Accelerated Reading, iReady and MyOn in which the District monitors bi-weekly. It is difficult to do whole group. Our school is located in a low socio-economic area. So we are seeking assistance in funding tablets.
Ms. S’s 3rd grade students thank you in advance!
My Project
Students can refer to other programs that will better assist them with standards/benchmarks. Technology in the classroom will expose additional students to material that is engaging and interactive.
These Chromebooks will serve as a alternative teaching and learning tool used to increase my students learning and instruction.
Technology will provide supplemental learning activities that complement in-class instruction and lessons. It will also complement the Accelerated reading , iReady and MYON programs. Students will use the Chromebooks during Differentiated Instruction(Small group instruction) to build reading comprehension. Students will incorporate data driven lesson through iReady instructions which will assist students in reading on grade level.
"By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement." Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future.
Students will become better readers and enjoy other subjects that involve reading!
