My Students

Have you ever been told to pick a book and none of the books look interesting to you? The best way to develop good reading skills is to have children read. The more interested they are in the book the more likely they are to read. We need books that motivate students to read.

My students have a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

They are excited about learning. We have a classroom that we try to have hands on learning. We study bugs and plants, so we have insects and plants in our room, even a tarantula. The students love real life learning. At this age they are starting to identify what things they like and dislike. They are also developing attitudes towards school and reading. Our school is a neighborhood school in an urban area. Many families struggle to make ends meet. Parents want their children to succeed and want to help them. Our school tries to work with the parents to encourage them in the educational process.

My Project

My students have a lot of imagination, energy, and are very curious. Most of them still have positive attitudes towards school. I want my students to succeed. Reading is critical in the educational process. Everything is tied to it. The best way to improve reading skills is to motivate students to read. The more they like to read, the more they read. The more they read, the better they read. I am requesting books that will be of interest to boys and girls. By this age they have different type of books they prefer to read. I want all students to be able to find books they like to read in my room. I have chosen both fiction and nonfiction, as well as some that tie into some of our units of study. When children have a variety of books to choose from it keeps them reading and interested. I have chosen some series because once students read some authors they hunger for more from the same author. I really want to get them hooked on reading.

I know how important it is to keep the students reading and wanting to learn.

This project will help me motivate students to read a variety of books and keep strengthening their reading skills. It is very important to me to help my students. One type of book does not appeal to all readers, this allows for many different reading experiences. Thank you for considering help our students. I really appreciate it.
