Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in grades nine through twelve, plus additional years of vocational-transition (ages 15-21). We are a small, public school tucked away in the beautiful mountains. We are avid outdoor adventurers, and our lessons are geared towards Community-Based Vocational Instruction (CBVI).
My Project
My students have been learning on a hybrid model. A learning hybrid model means students are in-person learning for two days and learn from home the other three days.
Sending snacks home with schoolwork adds a little sweetness to the sour.
I send weekly work home and like to add snacks for incentives as well as a positive reinforcement.
Each week the students receive a drink, chips or crackers, and something sweet, along with their assignments.
My students would rather be in the classroom, as I would too, but these snacks take a little of the sadness away.
