My Project

Since I was a kid, I was always known for being the one with the camera, capturing special moments. I was fortunate to have a mother and grandmother who understood the importance of photos. They would save money to buy me disposable cameras for school field trips and important events like birthdays, school dances, and celebrations.

Printed photos have a unique way of preserving life’s best moments, and being able to hold those photos or arrange them in a photo album is something I truly treasure.

Unfortunately, many of my students don’t have the same opportunity to experience physical photos that I did. I want to change that by taking and printing photos of my students’ memories to give to them.

For this project, my goal is to print photos of student memories to help foster a sense of connection and belonging, boosting emotional well-being by reminding students of positive experiences. This will promote a supportive classroom environment, strengthen peer relationships, and address the isolation caused by the pandemic. Visual memories encourage reflection, allowing students to process their feelings and build resilience. This practice can help mitigate the emotional impacts of interrupted learning, reinforcing a sense of community and supporting students’ social, emotional, and mental recovery.

Many of my students have only experienced photos digitally which limits their connection to physical memories. By sharing printed photos, I can help bring their experiences to life in a tangible way, creating lasting memories and emotional connections. Their resilience in overcoming challenges makes them truly remarkable, and it’s a privilege to support their growth and well-being.
