Snapshots of Home: Telling Migration Stories with Books and Camera
Help me give my students books and instant photography to help them explore their migration stories. This will foster creativity, self-expression, and cultural understanding. It will also encourage personal reflection, improve language skills, and strengthen empathy among students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Despite the challenges they face, I love how my students show incredible resilience and a thirst for learning. This project will allow them to connect uniquely with their identity and migration stories using books and instant cameras. Through the books, they will better understand the migration journey and how it reflects in their own lives. The instant camera will enable them to capture special moments in their homes, creating a visual connection to their memories and experiences. By rotating the camera in their home, they can tell stories about what "home" means and how migration has transformed that concept. These resources will spark their creativity and help them improve their language skills and sense of belonging in this new environment.
