"A picture tells a thousand words."
As we dive into project based learning, I want to provide my class with all the tools I can to make them successful and motivated. These digital cameras will help my students tell the story of their learning - even if they struggle with the words!
My school sits in the middle of a mostly rural area.
My students come from a variety of home environments. Most students in my room qualify for the free lunch program. Many come from homes with little to no technology. Several of my students are living in foster homes. We have a very high population of English language learners. Many of my students have never left our own little city. Within our classroom we have students with a wide range of abilities and experiences. But those are just stats. What is most important about my students is that they fun and funny and motivated and ON FIRE about learning! They love to learn and are constantly asking questions that bring on more learning. They amaze me everyday and make me want to be a better person.
My Project
I want to EXCITE and MOTIVATE my students to learn more by putting digital cameras in their hands. I want them to ask questions, seek answers, and record their learning. I want them to be able to reflect upon their learning at any time later in the year and build upon that learning. If we are learning about the water cycle, I want them to take pictures of different cloud types, and different stages of the cycle. If we are learning about the life cycle of a ladybug, I want them out in the field, searching for a ladybug in the pupa stage and recording it - not just looking at a diagram in a book. I want to bring learning to life and give my students the tools to make it happen! I believe that these four cameras will open the world of learning even more for my students.
I truly believe that education has the ability to be the great equalizer.
I want my students to have every opportunity to achieve. I want their learning to make an impact that lasts a lifetime. I believe by putting the right tools in their hands, learning can be taken to a new level and I believe that these cameras will help to do that!
