This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my classroom, I’ve noticed that students are motivated but snacks and candy.
Everyday they ask for treats and this allows me to create the opportunity to incorporate incentives into our learning environment.
Instead of just handing out snacks as a reward, I can create a system that ties it to academic achievements and positive behaviors. This can be tied to completing assignments on time, participating in class discussions, or helping their peers.
This also fosters a sense of community and teamwork. Students will be motivated not only by the reward itself, but also by shared experiences of working towards a common goal. This will help create a more engaging classroom.
