My Project
My 7th-grade students are generous, kind, and caring with little knowledge of the English language and new to this country. They are willing to share what little resources they have to also support their peers in their academic journey as well. In middle school, English Language Learners are not only concerned with the clothes that they wear but the type of supplies they have. More than half of my students are in need of financial support being in a Title I school where most of their parents work more than one job to support their family.
Your support will help me provide glossaries, snacks, and hygienic supplies for my students so that they can focus on their work and learn the English language with ease.
This year the influx of migrants has caused many students to be self-conscious and afraid of acclimating to a new country and school. By providing students with a clean environment using paper towels and cleaners the children will feel more comfortable staying in my classroom knowing it has been cleaned with durable products. During their lunch, I also offer enrichment activities to encourage learning beyond the classroom or to support their academics in other subjects. Having snacks and food for the students will provide them with the confidence and cleanliness to be themselves.
