My students need a variety of snacks and quick breakfast items for the mornings they arrive late to school and the weekends they go home without food.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students come to school hungry for more than knowledge. Many times they are hungry because they missed the bus so they missed breakfast or because they have been hungry since the night before. Learning on an empty stomach does not work and we need your help.
My students come into school every day eager to learn something new.
We are one of five kindergarten classrooms in a Title I school with close to 600 students. I currently have 18 students. The majority of my students are English Language Learners who need additional materials to support learning new vocabulary and skills simultaneously.
Many people have said that our school is a hidden treasure and for that reason it can be difficult to locate. Because we are tucked into a small neighborhood, we do not receive as much community support to fund classroom needs as we need. Many of our teachers purchase items independently or seek funding for materials.
My Project
Your donation will help purchase needed breakfast items like fruit and oatmeal bars and after-school snacks like granola bars to take home. Children learn better with a full stomach rather than an empty stomach. While I cannot stock fresh fruits and vegetables for my students, I can provide them with shelf-stable and nutritious foods they can eat in the classroom and take home. They need these healthy foods to promote better learning.
Your donation will give my students what they need before they can begin to learn: good, nutritious and shelf-stable food.
With this, they will be able to take some food home after school and for the weekends. Please consider donating to my project and support my students' basic needs.
