The headphones allow students to either cancel out distracting noises/conversations and take a break when they need to disconnect for a moment through music. Many of my students have emotional dysregulation and prefer to listen to music for a few minutes to reset, have a brain break, or just to help them focus. Several students do not own their own headphone or are not allowed to bring them to school. Keeping special classroom ones alleviates that added stress.
Snacks provide energy to the students to focus on their learning rather than focusing on being hungry.
Many of my students are involved in sports and have not fully learned the importance of eating properly during the day for their bodies. Others come to school hungry without enough to eat at home, miss school breakfast, and other reasons they arrive hungry. We all know what it's like to be "hangry", and being able to provide snacks means I can make sure my students can focus in school and be able to regulate their emotions better.
