This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic English language learners that need a few tools to help them stay on track. 100% of them receive free lunch. They come to school full of enthusiasm, but they need even the most basic supplies, like pens, pencils, and notebooks. Many of them work after school to support their families. Still, they participate in a wide-range of extra curricular activities to extend their learning and experiences.
Our school has a great track record of helping these students graduate with success; however, we have limited resources and do not always have the means to purchase essential tools and enhancements for our students to make them successful.
My Project
My students often arrive to school not having eaten breakfast, and lunch options often do not give them the energy they need to study all afternoon. I find it helpful to be able to offer a healthy snack when students seem to be a little down or unable to focus.
These snack options will help my students to maintain focus and get the most out of every class period.
This will prevent some students from putting their heads down or asking to leave class due to a lack of focus. A treat can help generate a positive environment in the class, which will ultimately improve classroom performance. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
