This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the Academic Engagement Teacher and multilingual teacher at my school. I work with all students from grades pre-k to 6th grade. I teach in a Title I school with a large population of Hispanic students. All of my students receive free lunches and come from low-income families.
My students are eager to learn and explore their world.
They come from diverse backgrounds but mostly come from low income families. My students also are building other skills needed for their success in my classroom and beyond.
Covid-19 is having educators rethink how students will experience learning at school. Students are in need of resources to help them catch up and to be successful. Each student has to have their own materials for their success and to help them focus on learning.
My Project
State testing is coming up in April. Many of the students and families at my school come from low income households and have food insecurities. Students have a lot on their minds when we begin our state testing and I don't want food to be one of them.
Being able to provide each student within my school with a testing snack pack will help students focus on being able to show what they know instead of worrying about where their next meal will come from.
Students will be provided a snack pack for the whole week of state testing time.
