it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have severe disabilities and learning even the most basic skills of daily living can be a great challenge to them. Many do not understand social motivation or have the capacity to play. Despite their disabilities, food still speaks to them.
As English language learners and coming from a very low socioeconomic district, snacks and exciting foods are not something my students get very often and are a great motivator to encourage them to work hard.
My students outperform themselves every time there is a promise of a snack. They really push themselves and learn so so much better that way. I can’t say I blame them…. What I wouldn’t do for an ice cream. 😄
