Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One way our 7th grade team supports positive behavior is through quarterly B.A.G. Parties. These parties are celebrations of Behavior, Attendance, and Grades. These events are a big deal!
Students earn the chance to relax and enjoy activities like board games, video games, movies, art projects, prizes, and fun treats like Takis and cookies, their favorites.
For many of our students, these little indulgences are not just snacks; they’re symbols of their hard work paying off.
Hosting these parties is meaningful but expensive, and on a teacher’s salary, it’s hard to give our students the celebration they deserve. With 80% of our students coming from economically disadvantaged households, these moments of joy and recognition matter because some of these students don’t have moments like this to celebrate if it weren’t for school.
