Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in a Title I school and our snack program provides snacks for our students 2-3 times a week, and with delays in delivery or any other issue, we could skip out on snacks more than that. My first graders have their lunchtime early at 10:30 am, by the afternoon after recess and specials my students are very hungry and their learning is not as active as it needs to be, which I cannot fault them for.
Most families qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, so asking them to provide snacks for 22 students is a lot to ask for.
By having our class snack bin stocked with snacks, not only can I provide students with a better learning environment because they will not have an empty stomach but I can provide a safe place for them, where they know some kind of food will always be provided for them.
Thank you for reading, and I hope that you donate to our classroom.
