Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items requested—such as chips, Gatorade, Capri Suns, and gum—will make a meaningful difference in student learning by helping meet their basic needs and creating a more inclusive, welcoming classroom environment. Many of our students come from low-income households and live with disabilities, which can add extra challenges to their school experience. Providing snacks and comfort items helps them stay focused, energized, and ready to learn. These small supports can go a long way in showing students they are valued and cared for, helping them feel safe and included in the learning space. When students are physically and emotionally supported, they are better able to engage with their education and build confidence in their abilities.

The goal of this project is to promote academic success, emotional well-being, and a sense of equity for all students, especially those from underserved backgrounds.

By providing these items, we aim to support Racial Justice & Representation and ensure that every student has the tools and motivation to thrive. These snacks and supplies will not simply be handed out—they will be earned through positive behavior, effort, and participation. This reinforces the values of responsibility, accountability, and pride in their work. Our classroom community is built on mutual respect, and this project encourages students to work hard and support one another in reaching shared goals.

What makes my students truly special is their determination, resilience, and kindness. Despite facing obstacles such as poverty, disabilities, or limited access to resources, they show up every day with a desire to learn and grow. They are compassionate, culturally diverse, and full of potential. These students work hard, help their peers, and bring unique perspectives that enrich our classroom every day.
