Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are working hard to improve their reading and writing skills. They are diligent and persistent although oftentimes, they are lacking energy in small group because they are hungry.
Tasty snacks that the students enjoy help them stay energized, engaged and motivated to learn.
I also share a small snack with the students on assessment days as a reward for working hard on their test and doing their best work. Many of them don’t have access to snacks on a regular basis so something as simple as a bag of Goldfish crackers brings a smile to their face and increases their engagement with school. They actually look forward to taking their assessments which has previously been a time when they felt anxiety.
