Snacks for Brain Power!

Help me give my students snacks and treats throughout the day so they do not go home hungry. My students are in need of nutrition to keep them focused and energized until 4:30 pm.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Covid 19 has unfortunately impacted my students lives greatly. Due to the pandemic, they missed almost two full years of school. That means that not only did they miss out on the in-person education that they deserve and need, but they also missed out many opportunities to have positive social interactions with each other like during parties and celebrations that take place during a normal school year. With that being said, my goal for this year is to make up for the lost time and give my students as many opportunities to socialize and celebrate each other, as well as their accomplishments! I am throwing my students a valentine's day kindness party!

These snacks will be given to the students to enjoy while we are having our Valentine's Day kindness Party and while they are completing activities.

Some of the items will even be used to bake Valentine's day cupcakes for our party! My students have earned this reward and celebration through their hard work and dedication to learning each day!

Leftover snacks will be given to my students until they run out. Students need healthy snacks and treats to remain focused in class. Healthy snacks like these will ensure students will be successful in the classroom because they will have brain food. We eat lunch very early in the morning, and it is hours before the students go home to get food. We have an extended school day due to the after-school program, therefore school ends at 4:30 pm most days. My goal is to ensure that none of my students are going home hungry.This project will provide my 5th-grade students with prepackaged snacks that they can eat, giving their brains fuel and their bodies the energy to be productive and healthy students throughout the long school day.
