My Project
I have many students that stay after school for different activities and do not always have access to food. Many of these students receive free lunch during the school day and often stay after-school multiple days a week for two or more hours and do not bring extra food. Currently, I am providing snacks for the drama club, girls and boys basketball team, swim team and wrestling team.
I would like to purchase snacks such as ramen noodles, nutra-grain bars, crackers, cookies, and granola bars, to offer to any hungry child as an alternative to them going hungry while staying after-school for sports.
I do believe it is our responsibility to make sure we can offer something for students involved in an after-school sport, activity or tutoring program. If parents are assured their child will be fed something while they stay after-school, some parents may be more willing for their children to stay after school for sports.
