This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students face many challenges as they strive to read, spell, and write due to a misunderstood learning disability (dyslexia). As a Title I-funded school, many of our students are economically disadvantaged. In addition, some families are still dealing with unexpected hardships brought by COVID-19. COVID-19 had an academic impact on my dyslexic students by increasing their instruction gaps 12-18 month.
My students work hard to improve their literacy skills and as their dyslexia teacher, my goal is to make sure they are equipped with the necessary classroom tools and supplies to be successful.
I love helping my students who struggle reading by targeting phonological awareness, fluency, sight words, spelling and writing. Their learning disability also has an impact on reading comprehension, math problem-solving skills, and all subjects that relate to reading. I am delighted to work with such a dynamic group of learners and guide them towards achieving their academic goals.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of snacks to give my students in order for them to make it through a long educational school day.
Many of them do not have the means to bring an extra snack to school in case they feel or get hungry.
We as adults know how difficult it can be to concentrate on an empty stomach. So with your help, I want to provide snacks for all my students so they are able to have the energy needed to have a great successful learning day.
