My Students

My students are some of the most amazing I have ever met, and they continue to inspire me to teach. They enjoy coming to school and achieving their goals despite struggles at home they may face. I am excited to see my students return to class after not being on campus for 1.5 years.

Many of my students are in an art class for the first time since elementary school, so they are finding a creative side they did not know existed.

Seeing their excitement when they complete a project is very rewarding. Helping them reach or find their creative side is very rewarding as a teacher. Art supplies are consumable, having enough for all my students is important to me. Making sure the students are not hungry and have the supplies they need to be successful plays a major role for all students.

The majority of the students come from low socioeconomic households, and parents do not have the financial means to provide essentials for their child. I love watching their excitement as they are creative.

My Project

The majority of our students at our school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school is a full school magnet and pull students from all over the county and students get on the bus as early as 6:15 a.m. the school offers free breakfast but it not enough to hold a growing teenager until their lunch time, my class room is a safe place that the students know they can come here and ask for snack with no judgement on their home life. I enjoy being this place for my students, to have snacks available when the ask can make the difference in a students day.
