My Project
I teach small groups of students with ADHD, so we have to take breaks frequently. These students also are behind in reading and think they are too far behind to benefit from any help. I am trying to change that mindset. I am using Orton-Gillingham to find the gaps in their learning and starting with content they my have missed in K-6th grade.
Introducing fidgets and snacks recently has shown to reduce the amount of breaks needed while I am giving instructions and has motivated my students to listen and work hard.
Overall I hope these items will give my students the motivation to work in my class and will eventually help grow their reading knowledge.
