This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students attend a Title 1 school; many come from farm-working families or single-family homes. Most of the time they do not have access to complete meals in the mornings and during lunch they do not get full. I try and give any student who needs food a snack so they do not go hungry but I have provided snacks out of my own pockets but it does get expensive. I have a lot of refugee students who are learning English and to help them express themselves we do a lot of art projects in class. This allows their creativity to come out even if they are not able to speak the language. The colors, markers, and colored pencils will help them be creative and not have them purchase colors on their own since the majority of their families are struggling with money and where to live.
