Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project is meant to support my students and the community! Snacks for students is intended to support my students' needs and make connections in the process. Providing a snack not only satisfies their tummy, but creates a window of opportunity to chat!
I have SO many students come to me looking for a snack!
Now, I would be able to provide that snack and ask them how their day is going, what is happening in their lives, and how they are feeling. This gives me the opportunity to check in with them and offer my support, advice, guidance, and resources. Additionally, providing a snack and a check-in will help to support their academics and focus on their schoolwork if they are satisfied and feeling good. The goal of this project is to give my students nourishment physically and emotionally which then translates directly into the community. Healthy kids make healthy grown-ups!
What makes my students so special is that despite their hardships, they are so loving and kind. And their personalities are so fun and they make me laugh all the time. They are truly characters.
