This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students at our elementary school are bright, kind, and hard-working. They strive to do their best each day, but sometimes outside circumstances interfere with their ability to show their true potential.
Research demonstrates that children whose families do not know where their next meal will come from, are more likely to have lower test scores.
One hundred percent of students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. However, sometimes our students need a snack to help them make it through the day. These snacks will help our students fill their stomachs to make it to their next meal.
Research also shows that hungry students are likely to perform lower on standardized tests. We want to make sure that students are able to show their true abilities and that hunger is not a factor for them.
