My Students

The section of the city where I teach is a very low-economic area with minimal family involvement. Many have limited resources. However, they make up for that with their personalities and eagerness.

Many of my students come into school without previous education, minimal basic skills, and minimal supplies, but are eager and willing to work hard to learn all they can.

In order for my students to succeed and thrive, we need to have a safe and inviting environment. In order to do this, we need centers that are exciting and new, basic everyday materials that are readily available for the classroom and for home.

My Project

During virtual teaching I noticed my students had access to their kitchen and could have a snack whenever they wanted and it was challenging when hybrid teaching started because I didn't have snacks in the classroom to offer them.

This year I want to have snacks to make the transition from home to school easier and create an environment where they will allow my students to slowly adjust to a school setting.

I also chose snacks that I saw my students eating last year so that the transition is not so drastic and abrupt for them.

I chose snacks that I saw the children eat, but also bought snacks that I hope they will enjoy and are a bit healthier.
