Help me give my students muffins, Cheez-its, Goldfish, popcorn, and chips for rewards.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Terry's classroom raised $343

My Project
Controlling a classroom full of 8-year-olds while ensuring that learning is taking place is no easy feat. It is especially trying once we add social distancing to the mix! To make things a bit easier, I use a positive behavior system with tickets.
Students have been rewarded tickets for being responsible, following directions, being kind to their classmates, and making good decisions.
The students can also lose tickets for making poor choices in the classroom.
Throughout the week, students save their tickets in their school boxes. Every other Friday, I allow the students to shop at our classroom store. They can either spend their hard-earned tickets on the lower-priced items or save them for the higher-priced items. I love that there is a much bigger economic education and budget management lesson hidden inside this reward system! Some students have never had the opportunity to learn finance. Students are motivated by extrinsic rewards, while learning financial literacy words such as using their school box as a bank account to save their reward tickets. They use the reward tickets like currency and learn money management. Some students have never had the opportunity to earn money and choose what to spend it on.
Unfortunately, a teacher's pocketbook can only stretch so far! If my project is funded, it will help promote good behavior and citizenship in my classroom, which will benefit my students in the long run. Popcorn, mini muffins, Cheez its, and Goldfish will surely be hot items in my class store! A class store seems simple, but it has many incredible benefits for behavior, citizenship, and economics!
