Snack Shop Fun: Snacking and Learning

My Students

Situated in a small town, our school is a Title I school with a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced lunch. Our classroom is full of students who have multiple abilities and are working to overcome many roadblocks.

Each day when my students walk into my classroom, my goal is to immerse them in meaningful experiences that will motivate and inspire them.

My team and I work hard to provide experiences that will create opportunities for growth and learning.

My Project

It's difficult to work when you are hungry-we all know this! As adults, it's easy to lose sight of how important our basic needs are, but for students, these basic needs must be met in order for their little bodies to be ready to learn!

I believe that by fueling my students and providing them with healthy snacks, they will be more ready to learn.

I have selected a variety of healthy, child-friendly snacks for my students to choose from. We use snack time as a time to promote and practice social skills and manners. With this project, I would take things a step further by creating a "Snack Shop" where students could choose their snack from a menu and be served by a classmate.

This project will provide my students with a variety of healthy snacks to choose from to keep them from being hungry during our school day. I want my students to have the opportunity for choice and freedom in their learning and this is one more avenue through which I can provide that.
