This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the new Behavioral Health Professional at my school for the upcoming school year. As part of the process in setting up my classroom, I want to target a safe and meditative environment. My classroom will promote mental wellness which is important for the students to excel at school. The students in our school are not allowed to bring snacks from home or outside. We provide snacks and drinks for students who have demonstrated positive behaviors and efforts in their classes. Many of the students are lower SES and look forward to these treats.

Many of our students benefit from a mid-day “pick-me-up”.

In the new school year, I look forward to building a classroom that will provide comfort and a sense of safety to the students. My classroom will include mental health activities such as relaxation corners, flashcards, and meditative activities. There is nothing more important than to ensure my students feel welcomed and ready to tackle their school day.
