Snack Cart-Motivation for Money Skills

My Students

I work with the greatest students on the planet. I teach students who have significant disabilities (exceptionalities). These students have disabilities that include but are not limited to: down syndrome, autism, epilepsy and other physical limitations. COVID was hard on everyone but it impacted my students at a more significant level.

I had just switched to my new school when COVID hit.

The students did not know me and I didn't know them. However, I had a vision of an inclusive environment where they each get to reach their potential at their own pace. Going virtual was near impossible for my students and a significant setback to the vision of inclusion we had. However, we are anxiously working our way back to showing not just the school but the world what we are all capable of when given an opportunity.

My Project

All of my materials will be used to help support the learning of my students with exceptionalities and pave the way for inclusive learning! My students all have functional learning goals and we started a Snack Cart to help them dive into those goals with real life experiences.

Once a week we run a snack cart where we : take orders from staff, print the orders, prepare the popcorn and deliver.

This has not only helped my students with money skills but also has allowed the building to see the capabilities of my students. My students have enjoyed getting to know all the faculty and it has really benefited all the parties involved.
