This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students come from low-income families. The majority of them qualify for free or reduced lunch. Because of this, many of them are not able to provide their own snacks to have in the morning before our later lunch.
These snacks will help provide a healthy treat for my students' brains during the morning work time.
When my students are able to have a healthy snack in the morning, it helps them focus on learning and their work instead of feeling hungry. This in turn, helps them be better listeners and harder workers because their hunger is satisfied.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
