My Project
Each day after recess, my class listens to a chapter of a novel and eats a snack. While some of my students are able to, and choose to bring snacks from home, most of the class relies on snacks provided by me. Occasionally we get donations from families, but providing a daily snack to more than 20 students has put a strain on my budget.
I believe that students perform better when hunger is eliminated as a barrier to learning.
After snack, students are more alert, comfortable, and ready to learn. These snack items will help my students by filling their bellies when they come in from recess. These snacks will provide a much-needed blood sugar boost right before we dive into our main Language Arts lesson. When my students have nourished bodies, their minds are open and ready to learn.
These snack items will help my students be more alert during class, and will also bridge the gap between those who can bring their own snacks, and those who cannot.
