My Project
I work at a very small rural school. My first-grade students are wonderful kiddos and always ready to learn. Unfortunately, some of them are hungry when they get to school and need a quick snack to get them ready to focus on the job at hand- LEARNING! If they are not hungry in the morning, I bet you by the afternoon they are. Some bring a snack, but the majority do not or do not have money to purchase one from the school snack cart. I don't know about you but I cannot sit there and watch some students eat and others watch them without a snack. I am trying to stock my classroom with snacks so that this does not occur.
Basic needs like hunger need to be met in the moment so that young children can focus on learning and not their growling stomachs.
The snacks will go directly to my first-grade classroom and the students that will call it home for the coming 2022-23 school year.
