My Students
These materials are for a wonderful group of 3rd and 4th graders whom are excited about learning! My favorite part of teaching is helping my students develop a love for learning! Our school is amazing, and it is a very warm and inviting place. We have a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students working hard every day to help everyone succeed.
My school has a very diverse population of students and families.
We are located in what some call a bedroom community, because parents work farther from home. Some of our students are low income, English Language Learners, come from single parent homes, or are living with other guardians. It can be challenging meeting the needs of the varying abilities and backgrounds of the students, but it is something I enjoy doing. I am looking to instill a love for learning in my students.
My Project
"Missing meals and experiencing hunger impair children’s development and achievement." Please help me provide snacks for my students. Everyday, I have at least 5-10 students that have forgotten to bring a snack to school. Every year I ask parents to donate snacks to the class but feel bad every time I ask. I also feel bad when it is the same families donating. By providing these snacks, I will relieve some of this burden. Due to little critters, we need to be able to keep the snacks in air tight containers.
" Hungry children have lower math scores.
They are also are more likely to repeat a grade, come to school late, or miss it entirely." Allowing my students to eat snacks allows them to have full belly's which means they are able to focus better on academics!
